More Lines
Haven’t done a recap from the last convention yet, but here’s some of what I’ve done since then. Thanks to great advice from Adam Hughes and Brian Stelfreeze, I’ve got some more direction.

Fathers day!
Wow! My first real Fathers Day has come and gone, and I gotta say it was pretty fantastic. My wife and 7 month old son made me feel so special today.
My wife made this super cute onesie for our son, incorporating my love of Spider-Man.
On an unrelated note, I’m headed to Heroes Con later this week and hopefully will have much to report.

Megacon Recap
Just a couple weeks ago, a friend and I attended our first real comic convention. We loaded up the car and made the drive down to Orlando for Megacon.
I’m told that Megacon is pretty much the smallest of the big cons, and the largest of the small cons; either way it was huge to me and what an experience. So much to see and do.
We met up with several other friends while down there, one who was able to introduce us to a lot of cool people like the amazing artist, Brian Stelfreeze . We spent the first day of the con taking in the sites and riding the roller coaster that is nerd-dom. On day one I got to watch several artists get critiques on their work; something I had no intention of doing while on this trip but I learned so much just from watching others get crits, it seemed ridiculous to pass up such a great opportunity.
That said, on day 2, I mustered up the courage to show my work to a few super talented artists in the hopes of some useful feedback. I have to say, the responses I received were way more helpful and way more informative than I could have imagined.
My critique from Brian Stelfreeze was especially helpful. Whether he was born that way, or he picked it up over time, the man is an amazing teacher and has a great eye for his craft.
When I returned home I couldn’t wait to put what I learned to practice and so far its been going great. I’m still working hard ro produce as much as I can, as often as I can. Heres some of what I’ve been working on…

Ringing in the New Year
2012 is officially here (at least in my timezone) and since I’m not out partying I figured I’d celebrate with some art.
I started this piece in 2011 and finished it in 2012. Heres to smooth sailing as we float into the new year.

Friday Night Frenzy!
Here we go again.. I hope. Danno-light is born and almost 3 weeks old, and when I can find some spare time Im trying to keep crankin’ out some art. I got a few things going this week, but these are the ones that made it to inking stage.
1. General Gannon ( Gannon : Legend of Zelda)
A friend of mine has been working on a Zelda story to spice up the series a bit, I like what hes got and thought I’d do some sketches for it.
2. Dr.Quinn Medecine Woman (Harley Quinn : Batman)
Random Harley Quinn Pinup. Warmup for a bigger picture that hopefully will be ready to post by next week.
Just a little taste to say I’m still in the game. More to come!

Princess Follow Up
Earlier this weekend In the FNF I posted a Zelda image that popped into my head. Little bit of follow through and here we are with a completed image.
I think it came out pretty well, now I need to look into putting a real background on some of these.

Not all Princesses need saving (Late FNF)
I missed the last friday night frenzy due to overwhelming schedule (and a lot of playing Batman Arkham City.) Heres 2 pieces I’ve been working on.
Princess Zelda, with a little role reversal.
Batman and Catwoman: Monochromatic Prismacolor Pencil (Not finished, but I got bored so I probably wont finish it. )

Friday Night Frenzy
This week was a little out of the ordinary as far as art. I was lacking ideas so each of the pieces I’m posting tonight was in response to a different person/situation. As such, I shifted my style on all but the first 1. Some of me definitely shows through on each of them but they clearly are not my usual.
1: Tech guy (My own interpretation of a character designed by a friend)
2. Art Challenge to create a Goth character named “Jack-0-Lantern.” I wanted to make him awkward and creepy so I intentionally made him hunch and gave him a burned hand with which he can create fire, as well as a knife for “carving”. Unfinished background was going to be looking out a window onto rooftops, with sort of an art nouveau vibe. Kinda like in the next piece.
3. Along with that goth character there was supposed to be a goth lolita character named black cat, again I decided to go significantly more eastern in style since the concept was very eastern.
4. Modeled to match the disney princesses. My friends little girl told her that “princesses dont wear glasses” so someone suggested I draw her a picture of a princess with glasses. So I pulled up a picture of her in her easter dress and drew her as a fun princess with glasses.
5. This is for a challenge to merge both a classic movie monster and an anime character. I chose the alien from “This Island Earth” and Astroboy. I like how it came out.
