Its fun when you get to work on projects with other people. It’s a little harder to make that happen when you’re out of school but nothings impossible. I’ve been getting into Art Trades lately. You know, giving a piece of art to someone and receiving one in turn.
I’ve done several art trades with this artist (Wind Box) but for our latest trade we decided to make them both “Collabs”.
Each of us is doing a piece using the theme “I’ve got this!”, then we’ll swap and color the other persons image. When the pieces are both finished I’ll post them both up here, but for now heres the lineart I did for the Trade/Collab.
There were a few things I had in mind for this piece. I wanted to play with a more complete scene than I usually do, and to give it a nice dynamic composition. If you follow my art at all, you know I really love the 50′s style pinup art (like the paintings of Gil Elvgren and the art of a lot of the old pulp fiction). So I was playing with the 50′s sci-fi stereotypes and also wanted to do a monster thats a little less “humanoid” than my usual. It’s still pretty humanoid, but less than normal, easin’ my way into it. Those were the biggest things.
Stay tuned to see how the colored 1 looks and to see what it is I will get to color.
