It’s the end of #mermay! You’ve worked hard and now you get to celebrate. Join me in celebrating your growth as an artist in #redrawjune!

This challenge is meant to be relaxed. Instead of drawing a new piece everyday, take a little time this month to find an old piece, or 2 or however many you want to do, and redraw it.

Share both to remind yourself how much your work has paid off AND to remind others that great artists aren’t just born, they are forged!

Stay tuned for more (non-mermaid related) art on any of my social media channels.

Calling all art fam! Help me celebrate #redrawjune! The month…

Calling all art fam!

Help me celebrate #redrawjune! The month is nearly over but it’s not too late to celebrate. Just find an old drawing that you used to like, and show us how you’d attack it today!

We try to do this every June for three main reasons.

1) To remind ourselves how far we’ve come and get pumped for where we are going.

2) To remind aspiring artists that we all start in the same place. No one should be discouraged about where they are with their art.

3) To remind the world that gifted artists aren’t born, they are forged through hard work and countless hours!

Come celebrate! Do a redraw and use the hashtag RedrawJune

loish:

12 years of improvement! I found a sketchbook from 2004 and decided to revisit a few of the drawings with my current skillset. I remember what I wanted to achieve at the time but couldn’t because I was struggling with volumes, gesture, and confidence in my linework. I always recommend this exercise to people who are struggling with art block so they can see how much their work has evolved, even if it’s just over the course of a few months - it really helps put your skills into perspective!

last two images are of crysta from ferngully, and ariel from the little mermaid :)

I don’t think @loish knows about RedrawJune but this is a great post for it!
