Process from life to paper.

Last night i was doing some life drawing from random photos on the internet, and this I came across this article on an Illustration Blog, The article talks about the use of photographs for life drawing amongst gallery artists and illustrators.

For whatever reason it seems ok for gallery artists to do it but theres a negative stigma amongst illustrators, almost as if its cheating in some way. I'd never felt like it was cheating before, and I still dont, but the post does raise some interesting points.

That being said, heres some of what I was working on.

On a side note: This is the inaugural post on my blogger account. Will I really use it? We'll see. Hopefully I'll be back soon to dress it up and make it look perdy.

If you're reading this on ny wordpress account, then you are seeing my blog how its intended to be viewed. There are a lot of illustrators on blogspot so I thought this might be a good way to get out and get connected.

Happy Blogging!

Power Girl

Tryin to keep up the momentum, did another DC Comics character, here she is. It feels flatter than I intended, but other than that, Im pretty happy with the way the coloring came out, may have learned some new things for future pieces.

I also went out o f my norm and did some darker stuff this week. Stay tuned for that when I can get to the scanner.

Continued exploration

Trinity Anglican Church up in Thomasville, GA is built and beautiful. I was asked to do a drawing of the building. It was a great chance to work on some scenery and practice my coloring. Heres a looksey.

Breaking out of my bubble

While I dont feel like I’ve really been able to nail down a style that I can call my own, my art definitely all stands together. At least usually. This week I decided to try something a little different a little more cartooney. After a conversation with a friend about the new Spider-Man shattered dimensions game, we thought it would be funny if 1 of the unannounced dimensions was modeled after the old cartoons like “Steamboat Willie”. Heres the result.
