Here’s my take on how the Sailor Scouts might look, tossed into a film noir.
Sailor Moon - The Good Girl
Sailor Venus - The Femme Fatale
Sailor Mercury - The Law
Sailor Mars - The Villain
Sailor Jupiter - The Detective

Police Chief Mercury is on the case!

Aloha, all! I’m probably going to rescan this: This was our monthly challenge for #ComicJamHawaii to participate in #redrawjune - essentially it’s an event to encourage artists to celebrate growth in themselves & recognize growth in others :) So the challenge was to find some old art and redraw it to see the evolution.
As I was cleaning up, I found some old sketches of my characters from my comic strip “The University of Diverse City” featured in the University of Hawaii Manoa school newspaper Ka Leo O Hawaii.
•The top was drawn back in high school 1987
•the middle was drawn in college 1992
•the bottom was drawn today 2016Hopefully you can see some improvement ^_^;

I don’t think @loish knows about RedrawJune but this is a great post for it!12 years of improvement! I found a sketchbook from 2004 and decided to revisit a few of the drawings with my current skillset. I remember what I wanted to achieve at the time but couldn’t because I was struggling with volumes, gesture, and confidence in my linework. I always recommend this exercise to people who are struggling with art block so they can see how much their work has evolved, even if it’s just over the course of a few months - it really helps put your skills into perspective!
last two images are of crysta from ferngully, and ariel from the little mermaid :)

I meant to put these up earlier in the month, but these are some redraws of old OCs - Isis and Gabbi - from 2008. It’s Redraw June, an art challenge month created by myself, @danielhookerart, and Ben Bruce focused on art improvement. All through this month, we encourage artists at all levels to share and redraw their old works to showcase their improvement with the art community.
If you don’t have old work you want to redraw, try drawing Redraw June’s mascot every June as a mile-marker! Redesign her as you see fit, share or don’t share - the whole point is to bring focus to the fact that no artist starts off with amazing work. There’s a path to where we all are now, and sometimes it’s great to see where your artistic favorites started off at and where they are now.
If you share your work, don’t forget to tag it #RedrawJune. Check out other entries on the Redraw June tag, or June the mascot on the official Redraw June website for more info~
Get in on this.
